Mattresses and furniture are two of the most common items found in storage units. However, they’re typically stored incorrectly. For anyone planning on storing a mattress or piece of furniture in the near future, make sure you wrap these items before putting them away. Here’s why.

1. You’ll avoid scratches.
Furniture items should always be wrapped in order to avoid damage. If you decide to store multiple pieces of furniture and later have to remove just one or two pieces, you might damage a different item while putting them out. Wrapping helps to keep your items safe and sound.

2. It protects from mold and mildew.
If you live in an area while the climate may impact your stored items, wrapping your items is essential. Mold and mildew can quickly take over stored fabric, and you won’t want to use your mattress if it’s covered in a moldy substance.

3. It protects from termites.
Termites love to make a home inside furniture, especially wood. If you’ve ever had a termite infestation, you know they’re no joke. Make sure to wrap your wood furniture before storing it to protect from termites, especially if they’re prevalent in the area you live in.
