1. Use acid-free cardboard boxes.
If you’re putting valuable items into cardboard boxes, make sure they’re acid-free. This acid can easily bleed into any unprotected collectibles and stain or damage them. Look for boxes that are specifically designed for storing sensitive/valuable things.

2. Make sure your unit is secure.
Many storage unit thefts happen because people are searching for valuable and resellable collectibles. Because of this, security is extremely important. Invest in a strong lock that would be difficult to cut. Cheap locks with long necks are easy to break. But a lock with a short neck, made from high quality material.
