The holidays are an exciting time, but they come with a long list of chores. Oftentimes, taking seasonal decorations out of storage and putting it all back after the holidays is exhausting. Here are four tips for safely removing holiday decorations from storage this holiday season.

1. Use drive-up storage.

Our drive-up storage units are perfect for storing holiday decorations. You can simply pull your vehicle right up to the unit door and transfer boxes directly from your unit to your car. The less distance you have to travel with your boxes, the less chance there is for an accident and damage to occur.

2. Ask for help.
You might not think removing decorations from storage is a big deal, but it’s helpful to have an extra set of hands and eyes while moving fragile items. Ask a friend or family member to spare an hour or two to assist your holiday task.

3. Use a dolly.
Most storage facilities will offer you a dolly if you don’t have your own. They come in all sizes, so if you’re looking for one to purchase, you can probably find one at a home and garden store.

4. Put heavy items in the car first.
When loading things into your car, always put the heavy stuff inside first, near the front, and put fragile items in the back. When you brake during the ride home, momentum will cause your heavy items to lurch forward, so you don’t want to position them in a way that would put your delicate decor at risk.
