2. Keep the battery in good shape.
There are two ways you can maintain your battery while your bike isn’t being used. First, you can remove it and place it on a trickle charger. Second, you can insert a pigtail, which will make hookup to a trickle charger much easier.

3. Change the fluids.
Change the oil, clitch, coolant, and brakes. If you do this before storing your bike, it will run smoother when you remove it to ride again.

4. Clean your bike.
Your motorcycle should look flawless before you put it in storage. Wash the bike and clean the chain and brakes.

5. Cover it, always.
Buy a high quality, ventilated cover that breathes. Drape it over your bike while in storage, just to add an extra layer of protection against the elements.

6. Put fuel stabilizer in the tank.

Before you store your bike in Sparta, add fuel stabilizer to the tank. Run the bike for a few moments, and then cut the engine. This will run the stabilizer through the fuel-injection system, which will keep it from building up harmful residue while you’re not riding on a regular basis.

7. Protect the exhaust.

Lastly, clean the exhaust and spray WD-40 in the pipe. This will help protect the exhaust from moisture. Afterwards, place a plastic bag in the pipe, wrap a rubber band around it, and seal it off. This will help keep vermin and pests out of your motorcycle.
