Many people own pianos. However, moving such a large instrument is a real hassle. Some weigh more than 100 pounds! If you need to move or store your piano, here are some valuable tips and tricks.

1. Make sure your storage unit is the correct size.

Pianos are big and heavy, so it’s important to choose a unit that’s large enough. Also, store the piano upright so it remains in good condition.

2. Think about storage security.

Choose a storage facility and unit that’s well-lit and provides cameras or security systems. When storing valuable items, safety should be a top priority.

3. Hire a professional to move your piano.

Without an experienced mover, you might injure yourself or damage your piano. If you do try to move the piano on your own, be cautious of breaking the fragile legs.

4. Clean the piano before storing it.

This will ensure your piano stays in good condition while it’s in storage. Use piano polish on the wood surface and a soft cloth to clean the keys.

5. Tune the piano after you remove it from storage.

When you finally remove your piano from storage, it will need to be tuned by a professional. Once you have it settled in its final location, give it a few weeks to adjust to the climate before having it tuned. It will be good to go in no time!
