You’re about to move across the country and pave a new path! Moving can be a hard process, especially when you’re moving to a brand new city or state. However, there are ways to ensure your cross country move is easy as pie.

1. Plan early. Don’t leave anything to the last minute!

The earlier you start packing and solidifying your cross country route, the less anxiety you’ll have as your moving date approaches.

2. List out an inventory of all your belongings.
Write out a list of all the furniture you’re having shipped to your new home. In addition, create a list of all your moving boxes and what’s inside them. When your stuff reaches your new home, you can compare to your list and ensure everything has arrived.

3. Get to your new house before your belongings arrive.
If you can arrange your furniture to arrive shortly after you get to your new home, do so. The last thing you want is for your movers to leave your belongings on the lawn.

4. Rent a storage unit.
If your move isn’t long-term, consider renting a storage unit to store  your belongings. It doesn’t make sense to pay for an apartment you won’t be using or to sell furniture and belongings you’ve accumulated over time. A storage unit is a great solution to keep your items safe while you’re away.
