Whether you’re storing your oil paintings at home or in a storage unit, below are some valuable tips that will ensure your oil paintings remain in mint condition for years to come. 

Storage Unit Size
Depending on how large your art collection is, you’ll want to choose an appropriate storage unit size. You don’t want all of your paintings to be crammed together or falling against each other. You want there to be plenty of space.

Don’t Use Bubble Wrap
While you obviously want to protect your artwork, you should avoid using bubble wrap. This is extra important in hot weather, as the bubble wrap can leave an imprint on the paint or varnish and damage your oil painting beyond repair. 

Darkness

It’s extremely important to store your oil paintings in a dark environment. Over time, light will change the colors of your oil paintings. Because of this, storage units are your best bet for keeping your oil paintings in pristine condition.
