Packing for a move is a daunting task! It’s even more challenging when you’re forced to move without a lot of notice. If you find yourself needing to relocate on a whim, here are five tips to pack for a last minute move.
1. Gather your supplies.
The first step is gathering supplies, such as tape, bubble wrap, boxes, and labels. At this point, you can’t waste time gathering boxes here and there. Head to your nearest supply store and purchase everything you need. That way, you can start packing immediately.
2. Pack essentials first.
Pack essentials, such as medications you take daily, in the very beginning. Label your boxes clearly so you don’t lose track of your most critical items.
3. Declutter while you pack.
In order to lighten your load as much as possible, throw away or donate items you no longer need while packing. Now is the perfect time to declutter so you don’t bring unnecessary items into your new home. The last thing you want is to haul a bunch of belongings to your new space that you no longer use or want.
4. Sort later.
Unfortunately, since you’re moving last minute, you don’t have time to leisurely organize your things. Instead of meticulously packing in an organized fashion, focus on wrapping your items carefully and protecting them from damage during the move.
