Utilizing Self-Storage for Spring Cleaning

It is officially Spring and you may be thinking about decluttering and freshening up your home. From wiping the baseboards to clearing out your closets, you may feel overwhelmed by the task at hand. Did you know that self-storage can be very useful for your seasonal organization? Here are some Spring cleaning tips and ways you can utilize self-storage in the process.

Purge to Reduce Clutter

If you are a sentimental person, it may be hard to part with certain items in your home. When organizing the different areas of your home, make piles as you work. Make a pile for keep, trash, donate/sell, and storage. Remember that you get to make the rules! If you are not comfortable parting with something for good, box it up to place in storage. This will help to remove clutter from your home, while allowing you to still have access to the item.

Sort through paperwork and old mail

We all know how easy it is to let a pile of mail and old bills accumulate on a bookshelf or countertop. Sort through your documents and make piles for items that can be tossed, shredded, or stored. Box up any important paperwork you may need to hang onto and place in your storage unit. Be sure to use a waterproof bin, as this will be best for protecting those important documents.

Seasonal Items

If you still have any holiday decorations around the house, now would be the perfect time to box them up for storage. Grab your heavy coats, scarves, and snow gear and place them in plastic tubs. This will protect your heavy winter items from moisture in damage while being stored. You may have gardening tools and a mower in storage. Time to swap those out and store your winter items instead.
