Spring is one of the prime seasons for cleaning and organizing it seems. Are you stuck on what to organize and how to do it effectively this spring?
Here are a few tips to help you get started:
Organizing the Shed
A shed is a common place that is packed full of tools for gardening and lawn care, but spring is the perfect time to declutter that space for the warmer months ahead. Consider purchasing some heavy-duty wood lattice sheets to place on the walls of the shed. Once the lattice sheets are secured, you can place some S hooks to hang tools from. If there are items that can’t be hung, you can attach broom clamps or binders to hold them in place.
Umbrella Storage
To keep wet umbrellas off of the floor or table, you can use an inexpensive flower bucket or milk can to store the umbrellas. To prevent or disguise any rust, paint the bottom of the bucket or can with a glossy oil-based enamel paint.
Conceal Any Clutter
Sometimes items on a shelf aren’t always worthy of display. Consider looking into installing a roller shade that complements your decor that you can pull down to avoid the space looking too cluttered or unattractive.
Create a Spring Cleaning Bucket
To make spring cleaning easier and to save yourself some time, fill a cleaning bucket with cleaning essentials such as rubber gloves, spray bottles, dust rags, glass cleaners and all-purpose cleaners, and a scrub brush.
Protect Stored Clothing
Protect any stored clothing by utilizing aromatic herbs. Herbs such as rosemary, cinnamon, balsam, and lavender can keep your clothes and shoes smelling fresh. Cedar is also a good option to protect wool from moth damage.
Garden Clean-Up
When gardening, try sorting any debris as you go. Put any biodegradable waste into a wheelbarrow that you can dump on the compost when finished. Keep any yard trash such as broken planters, labels, and rocks in a separate container that can hang over the side of the wheelbarrow using an S hook.
